Part Time: If you only use your RV occasionally or part-time and do not live in it permanently, you would normally only want campsite or part time insurance. This kind of insurance policy will however also cover you for most of the benefits of a full time policy. The best product for part timers, is currently offered by Progressive RV insurance if the policyholders is also a member of USAA.
eliminates the hassle of buying a separate towing plan. Towing, jump starts, roadside service, flat tire charges, fuel delivery, and locksmith service are just a toll-free phone call away. There are no out-of-pocket payments required, either. Just sign and drive. What's more, your motor home and your tow vehicle are covered, regardless of who is driving or where you are in US or Canada.
If you live in an area with unusual state regulations or heightened risk of weather-related claims, shopping car insurance options will be vital. Not every car insurance company offers policies in every state, which can make pricing less competitive. If you live in storm-prone states like Louisiana or Florida, you might find it harder to get a competitive rate.

Good Sam also exclusively sold GMAC going back to before I was keeping track so evidently kept their relationship with them. We didn't buy GMAC through Good Sam, however. We went through a independent broker. Good Sam is merely acting as an agent selling National General policies and does not own them nor affiliated with them in any other way from what I understand.
Like car insurance, RV insurance is required in every state. All states require a minimum amount of liability insurance; in addition, some require uninsured and underinsured motorists coverage. Collision and comprehensive insurance limits are determined by you, the consumer. Be sure to consider how you will cover your costs if you are in an accident and do not have adequate coverage.
As far as I know, National General has only been selling RV insurance under the name of National General since 2012/2013 as it was formerly the old GMAC insurance. We had GMAC when it changed its name to National General. I was not happy with their customer service nor their premium structure and they also sharply raised their rates for us shortly after the name change.
While many companies require you to call in to file a claim, Allstate offers a myriad of options, so you can choose what’s most convenient for you. Whether you’re a registered Allstate customer or just using a guest account, you can file a claim through an online report, directly contact a local agent, or call in to the 24/7 customer service hotline.

However, after 2019 (niche RV insurers started earlier), there are several companies offering the “replacement cost” policy. This can hugely protect much more the investment of the policyholder in exchange for a small increment in the price.
Full-time RVers can enjoy coverage similar to that of homeowners insurance through the Good Sam Insurance Agency’s specialized protection plan for full timers or first-time weekend RVers. Full-Time Insurance goes above and beyond what traditional Auto Insurance policies can protect because it covers a number of other incidents and situations that regular RV insurance does not.
